Please join us on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014 for a social and educational gathering of League members at 5:30pm in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church, 823 SE Lane, Roseburg, Oregon.

We will hear updates from members Jean Galleher on the status of health care reform and Linda Clary on the Children at Risk statewide study. And we’ll get you thinking about our Program Planning meeting, scheduled for January 20. Join us for some holiday merriment!

Members are welcome for a preceding POTLUCK. Please bring your favorite dish to share with fellow activists.

Please attend the Health Care Forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Umpqua Valley free to the public on Monday, December 8th from 5:30 p.m.to 7:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Public Library, 1409 NE Diamond Lake Blvd in Roseburg, Oregon.

The forum will feature four local health care leaders:

  • Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer of the Umpqua Health Alliance and Architrave,
  • Linda Mullins of the Umpqua Community Health Center,
  • Dawnelle Marshall of Douglas County Public Health, and
  • Janet Holland of the Community Health Alliance.

The public will have an opportunity to ask the panel questions.

Light refreshments will be provided.

“U.S. Health Care: The Good News” Film Showing

LWVUV-Health-Care-Flyer-V2-10The League of Women Voters of Umpqua Valley will be showing the one hour PBS documentary “U.S. Health Care: The Good News” at the Umpqua Business Center, 522 SE Washington Avenue, on Monday, November 17 at 5:30 p.m.

This free event is open to the public and light refreshments will be served. League members will facilitate a discussion about health care in Douglas County following the film.

The documentary originally aired in 2012 and highlights several communities around the country who have developed innovative strategies to provide excellent health care at reasonable costs. The documentary also highlights the work of the Dartmouth Institute For Health Policy and Clinical Practice.

October is busy with Candidates and Ballot Measure Forums

Be Informed! Come to nonpartisan candidates forums conducted by the League of Women Voters. Open to the Public – No charge.

Come hear the Oregon House District #2 candidates on Oct 7, 2014 at 6PM – 7:30PM at the OSU Extension Annex auditorium on the corner of Douglas and Fowler Streets, 1134 SE Douglas Ave, Roseburg.

On Oct. 14 ask Douglas County Commissioner candidates your questions at 6PM – 7:30PM at the OSU Extension Annex auditorium on the corner of Douglas and Fowler Streets, 1134 SE Douglas Ave, Roseburg.

The Ballot Measure Forum will be held on Oct. 21 at the Douglas County Library, 1409 NE Diamond Lake Blvd, Roseburg, at 6PM to 7:30PM. Want to learn about the measures? Both sides of the 7 state ballot measures will be presented by trusted League members.
