Homelessness in Douglas County

1. The League of Women Voters of the Umpqua Valley (LWVUV) supports continued cooperation among the organizations assisting the homeless population. We encourage the development of a plan to include all providers (public and private) with a single point of contact for the homeless. In Douglas County, the Umpqua Community Action Network (UCAN) is the state-designated agency for the homeless.

2. The LWVUV supports community education regarding the needs of the homeless in Douglas County.

3. The LWVUV promotes programs which provide housing and support services for the homeless.

4. The LWVUV supports giving high priority to assisting homeless youth.
